Road Closure in Whitecastle Ward

Monmouthshire County Council will temporarily close a 295-metre section of Whitecastle Road, approximately 1.95 km from its junction with the B4233, on 26 October 2026, between 08:00 and 17:00, to allow pole installation works to be carried out safely. A signed diversion will be in place via the B4521, Old Ross Road (R33) through Treadam and Llantilio Crossenny, and the B4233, with reasonable access maintained for affected properties. Whitecastle Volunteer Footpath Maintenance Group

The Whitecastle Volunteer Footpath Maintenance Group is working on a project which aims to improve a footpath from Llantilio Crossenny to Tal-y=c0ed. The group meet up on 7 October at 10am in Llantilio Crossenny Church Car Park. New volunteers are welcome. If you are interested in helping to keep our local footpaths open and accessible, why not come along and lend a hand? Information about the next meeting will be posted here when the date is confirmed. No experience is necessary, and all essential equipment will be provided. You may wish to bring your own gloves, secateurs and sturdy boots. The group is grateful for the support of Ross Emery from Monmouthshire County Council. Read More...

New Defibrillator Cabinet now in place

The Community Council is pleased to announce that the Village Life Community Project has relocated the defibrillator at Penrhos Farm so it is more accessible. The farm is on the Offa's Dyke footpath and is ideally located to serve residents and visitors. Thanks go to everyone who helped to make this happen. New footbridge in The Hendre

The Community Council would like to the Rights of Way department following the installation of a new footbridge in the Hendre which allows residents to access the route to from the village to Dyffryn Farm and beyond. The Village Quilters

The Village Quilters have been busy and are delighted to have completed three quilts for Quilts for Care Leavers. The group was also pleased to welcome a new member at Saturday’s meeting. In addition, another lady popped in and is planning to join us at the next meeting, so it is wonderful to see that word about the group is spreading. The Village Quilters continue to grow and make a positive contribution to the community through their creativity and generosity. Community Group Event

Llanvapley and District Gardening Club is one of several community groups supported by the Community Council. The group organised a Flower and Produce Show on Saturday 22 August on the playing field in Llanvapley during the afternoon. This was the first event of its kind organised by the club.
